ITU TELECOM is a part of the ITU. As a showcase of
telecommunications since its inception in 1971, Telecom serves, every three or
four years, as a measure of the progress already achieved and a preparation for
the future.
ITU TELECOM events seek to provide a ‘networking platform’ for
the global ICT community. Under this ‘platform’ the top names from both
government and industry - drawn either from across the globe or from a
particular region - can come together, meet, network, view the latest
technologies on the Exhibition floor and take part in topical debate in the
Forum. The events also feature a wide range of other activities, which focus on
all areas of the telecommunications industry from the Youth Forum or TDS
(Telecommunication Development Symposium), to high-level networking functions,
dinners and more.
ITU TELECOM events are characterized by a diverse set of
participants. The Exhibition floor generally features a combination of the big
global names; from mobile operators to vendors, Internet, hardware and
satellite providers. Alongside the globally recognized names, the exhibition
floor also features smaller, innovative new market entrants. National and
regional pavilions provide the perfect opportunity for fast-growing regional ICT
companies to showcase their latest products and services.
