The centenary
of the ITU was celebrated with postage stamps from around the world. Most of
these were issued on 17 May 1965 and showed the special centenary design.
The Plenipotentiary Conference was held in Montreux and a special commemorative ceremony took place in
Paris.
ITU published a book on the history of international
co-operation in the field of telecommunications: From semaphore to satellite.
It also gives a good description of the scientific progress that was made.
